Forensic psychology is a field of study which focuses on the intersection of psychology and the law. This is a very underrated, extremely vital branch of both psychology and criminology, and it has a variety of applications. From defendant evaluations to expert testimony to criminal profiling, this field has a lot of opportunities to offer. This field, while not widely practiced or accepted, has made incredible strides in developing a deeper understanding of mental health. By recognizing the impact mental illness has on criminal offending, as well as its impacts within prisons and jails, the criminal justice system is better equipped to handle such offenders with respect and efficiency.
